Finding the Right Comforter
The size of your
bed is the first thing you will need to
determine when purchasing your new down
comforter.
While this may seem
like a simple task at first, keep in mind that
many mattresses have different shapes depending
on their overall design. Many people these days
still have standard sized mattresses, so they
can easily purchase one of the typical sizes,
such as king, queen, full, or twin.
With all the added features that are available
on mattresses today, many people no longer have
mattresses that fit easily into one of those
categories. You get different dimensions when
you start adding features such as pillow tops,
which make the mattress thicker. This additional
thickness needs to be taken into account when
determining the proper bedding for your
mattress. Your best bet will be to measure your
bed and your mattress to ensure that you are
getting the proper size bedding. Taking this
simple step ahead of time will save you the
hassle of needing to return bedding that is just
not the right size later. Another key
consideration when purchasing a comforter is the
number of threads per inch, or thread count.
This number is usually good key as to the
overall quality of the product you are
purchasing. You will usually get a soft and
comfortable feeling with any product that has a
thread count at or above 250. Thread counts
below 200 often indicate a lower quality product
and should be avoided.
